music & art

As an appreciator of the arts, I support musicians and artists by sharing their work with a wider audience through radio (WMBR) and performance events (Bardo, Gallery 263). I occasionally create art, as well!

wmbr

Radio DJ, audio engineer, event organizer. WMBR is a noncommercial, all volunteer radio station operating from MIT's campus at 88.1 MHz. I began as a DJ in fall 2006 and have continued to host weekly or bi-weekly shows in the years since; I love it! I currently host the Wednesday edition of Breakfast of Champions, the station's weekday 8-10am indie rock show.

From November 2018 - March 2020 I helped to engineer and record live performances by local bands as part of the longstanding Pipeline program on WMBR, hosted every Tuesday 8-10pm. (Pipeline’s live sets have not yet returned after WMBR’s remote broadcasting during the pandemic.)

With a group of fellow DJs I helped organize the Ampersand concert series, a night of collaborative music, art and visuals with the List Visual Arts Center at MIT. I had the pleasure of curating shows featuring Death Vessel, Soft Cat, Peals and Tuxis Giant.

bardo

Founder, host (2014-2021). Bardo is an inclusive, safe and supportive residential home and community event space in Cambridge, MA in which to enjoy the arts and good company. Given an unusually large amount of shared space in a single-family Cambridge home, I and housemates hosted 30+ music and art events in our home from 2014-2021, including Homespun, a 22-member art show, in October 2016. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, shows occurred on an approximately monthly basis, with local as well as touring musicians (including Mutual Benefit, Toth, Outer Spaces, Yowler, Bent Shapes and Uni Ika Ai) and other performance art features; the final show occurred in August 2021 before the house was to be gut renovated.

Gallery 263

Board member; former Music Manager. Gallery 263, Cambridgeport's only art gallery, advances the endeavors of artists and performers, while fostering public engagement, enrichment, and exchange. For about two years I managed the gallery's music program, hosting local and touring musicians in the intimate space on a regular basis, and have since transitioned to the gallery’s board.
